Wyke Goes Green

<< Back to all news

Wyke Sixth Form College has taken a bold step toward sustainability, achieving a significant 20% reduction in its carbon footprint. Over the past 18 months, the college has invested in cutting-edge eco-technology and launched key initiatives to enhance energy efficiency across its campus.

Our Green Initiatives

  • Installation of 358 solar panels, providing clean and renewable energy to power our facilities.
  • Upgrading the majority of the campus’s light fittings to energy-saving LED technology, significantly reducing electricity consumption.

Beyond these major projects, Wyke’s Sustainability Committee and the dedicated student Eco Group meet regularly to brainstorm and implement additional measures aimed at further reducing carbon emissions. Their collective efforts ensure that sustainability remains a core part of the college’s vision.

These accomplishments have been calculated in accordance with the 2019 HM Government Environmental Reporting Guidelines, showcasing Wyke’s commitment to transparency and environmental accountability.
