The Ink Drinker is a student-run literary journal that was founded in the 2022 autumn term as an offshoot of Wyke Literature Society. The editorial team consists of both English Literature and English Language students but students from all across the college are welcome to get involved.

The idea behind The Ink Drinker is that any students and staff at Wyke are invited to submit articles, reviews, creative writing and/or illustrations on a given theme. This year, our themes have been: Christmas, Young Adult fiction (YA), Quests and Beginnings, and it has been heartening to see students from across the college submitting their work, including poetry inspired by the ethos of Wyke Man Club and literary responses to set A Level texts.
The Ink Drinker provides an opportunity for contributors to be analytical or creative or both, and to interpret our themes in any way they choose. It’s great practice for future careers in publishing and journalism, but also a way to explore the world of literature outside of the curriculum.
Our next issue will be published in September 2023, to coincide with the new cohort of first year students starting their journey at Wyke. The theme for the issue is Autumn, and we encourage any students and staff to get involved and submit to literaryjournal@wyke.ac.uk, or to contact Jenny West on Teams for any further information or advice.
