Our attendance at the Annual Sixth Form Law Conference at Hull University marks the start of our student’s legal journey - the conference is aimed at getting students thinking about where they might like to study law; what areas of law they might be interested in; and, what knowledge and skills they will gain to enable them to start a career inside or outside the law. Our A level and Applied Law students left the day feeling informed and prepared to plan their legal future.
The morning session incorporated lectures from university staff such as Weird and Wonderful Laws, Legalising Physician Assisted Suicide, Parliament and the Monarchy and Criminal Law. In the afternoon our students had the opportunity of meeting His Honour Judge John Thackray KC followed by a thoroughly engaging and informative question and answer session from leading legal professionals and academic lecturers.
We would like to congratulate our A level Law first year Law student Amelia, who entered into a competition ran by the university on the day. Amelia, presented her suggested new law to an audience over 400 staff and students during the morning session of the conference. After a series of other high quality presentations had been delivered, the audience voted for Amelia’s suggested new law as the winner! Congratulations Amelia.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Hull University for facilitating the day.
