The Wyke campus was a buzz as over eighty first year students successfully completed their Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) at our annual presentation gala. Every student exhibited their project in poster form, talked to invited guests, and formally presented their findings to their peers.
The qualification, equivalent to half an A Level, provides students with the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification by completing a largely self-directed and self-motivated project of their choice. The qualification is highly respected by universities and employers as it allows students to demonstrate all the skills needed to operate autonomously.
This year’s titles included “Is it justifiable to test on rodents for drug development?” to “How did Star Wars become and continue to be such an influential and iconic franchise?”. Whilst most students produced a 5000-word report, a significant number produced artefacts like works of art or documentary films.
