summer work

At Wyke Start, our 2-day taster event in July, each of your subjects will set you some work to complete to help prepare you for the course. The work is available to download on https://www.wyke.ac.uk/wyke-start-summer-work

The Wyke Experience

Throughout the course, you will experience an array of opportunities that will both enhance your knowledge as well as gaining invaluable insights that may shape future pathways. Opportunities will include visits to a variety of universities, guest speakers from local employers, hands-on practical work experience, on-site massage clinic, clinical experience with the University of Hull, external sports coaching opportunities and many more.

Sport enrichment is also open to you if you like to try new things, meet new people or just keep fit. Wyke is nationally renowned for its sporting excellence – twice winners of “Sports College of the Year.” You will have the opportunity to take part in sport even at a recreational level and the College Study programme enables you to play a vast amount of different sports.

In addition to this, we recognise that applications for Physiotherapy are particularly competitive and over the past three years we have supported so many students to gain places onto these courses at university. In addition to the careers and UCAS advice in college, we offer an established programme to support students considering applying for Physiotherapy. Staff in the PE Department work closely with colleagues in Careers, UCAS and the NHS to ensure students are well advised about their applications and receive the guidance needed to make a competitive application. Whether this is extra individual subject support to secure top grades, help locating work experience, receiving a Physiotherapist mentor from the trust, information on how to apply to university or preparation for interview, Wyke Sixth Form College will be there at each stage of your career journey.
