Diploma: 37.5% exam, 62.5 coursework

BTEC Performing Arts requires you to achieve at least the minimum entry requirements for your chosen pathway. You will also be required to attend a short audition in the summer term. The minimum entry requirements will be discussed at open events and at your college interview.
This course is for you if you would like to develop all round performance skills and transferrable skills such as self-confidence, self-presentation, personal discipline, time management and organisational skills which are highly regarded by higher education and employers.
The BTEC course can be studied in three sizes;
BTEC Performing Arts (Acting) Extended Certificate: equivalent to 1 A Level, and studied alongside 2 other subjects
BTEC Performing Arts (Acting) Diploma: equivalent to 2 A Levels, and studied alongside 1 other subject
BTEC Performing Arts (Acting, Dance and Singing) Extended Diploma: full time course which is equivalent to 3 A Levels, and covers Dance, Acting and Singing
Unit 1: Investigating Practitioners’ Work (externally assessed)
Unit 2: Developing Skills and Techniques for Live Performance
Unit 3: Group Performance Workshop (externally assessed)
Unit 4: Performing Arts in the Community
Unit 5: Individual Performance Commission (externally assessed)
Unit 6: Final Live Performance to an Audience
Unit 19: Acting Styles
Unit 21: Improvisation
Unit 26: Physical Theatre Techniques
To help prepare yourself for this course, we recommend that you visit the Performing Arts department at one of our open days which run from October to January each year. We also recommend that you attend taster sessions in Performing Arts at our Wyke Start taster event in July. Summer work will also be available for you to complete following Wyke Start helping to prepare you for your first few weeks on the course.

The College production enrichment is open to students who would like to either sing, act, dance or perform or who have a passion and interest to the behind the scenes working of a production.
Opportunities to publicise and work front-of-house, stage-manage, fit and source costume, hair and make-up, scenery shifting and props preparation exist, as well as the chance to run lighting and sound cues, direct and choreograph scenes. Get on board, your college needs you!
You will be required to participate in a minimum of 2 rehearsals sessions per week, running from September to March.
This will also include full commitment to rehearsals during the February half-term and possibly lunchtimes/after college.
There will be no initial cost to participate in this enrichment. However you may be required to help with costuming yourself for the production.
The emphasis is on teamwork and collaboration. We want you to experience the highs of performing and bonding as a company during the entire process, working closely with one-another and creating a production that truly reflects the commitment, determination and talent of you, the students.
We hope that you will establish new friendships and a real sense of achievement and pride will be created.
