INTRODUCING THIS EXCITING ENRICHMENT

This is a cross College Enrichment- you do not have to study dance to be a part of this team. Come and join the National Award-winning dance competition team. Entering the UK’s largest group dance competition ‘That’s Show’, you will perform a range of dance styles in the Heat, Semi Final and the Final. The Semi Final is a residential trip over the weekend and the Final in previous years has taken place at Liverpool Echo Arena and Blackpool Winter Gardens.

The dances are choreographed by David Danville and Hannah Goodhall in a Contemporary, Commercial, a fusion of styles or even Jazz. It all depends on what the theme is for the piece. There is also opportunities for a student led piece of work to enter this competition.

You can audition for the commercial dance team or the contemporary dance team... or even both! We audition the first full week of the new academic year and everyone is welcome to join us at the audition.

HOW OFTEN DOES THIS TAKE PLACE?

You may be involved 1-5 times per week depending on number of dances successful audition for.

WHAT WILL I GET OUT OF IT?

Teamwork, resilience, dance and performance skills, self management alongside learning routines with industry professionals and performance experiences.

IS THERE A COST OR ANY REQUIRED RESOURCES?

The cost is calculated on an individual basis (per amount of dances you in)

My experience at Wyke has been an overwhelming success. I thought that moving from a small school to a larger college would be a daunting experience yet it wasn’t at all. Everyone is so friendly and approachable. Flyers has provided me with so many useful skills and experiences which I will never forget.

The independence and opportunity to meet new people was why I chose to study my A Levels at the College. I enjoyed being able to complete an EPQ as it allowed me to research and write about a topic I found interesting.

I knew Wyke was the College I wanted to study at because I felt it had a much more mature and relaxed environment than other colleges. I knew I wanted to study Human, Social and Political Sciences at university and my teachers and Flyers mentor offered me additional support sessions to further develop my knowledge in these areas.

I was attracted to studying at Wyke because it offered me with many opportunities that would allow me to progress into Higher Education. Being a Flyer I have gained invaluable skills, experiences and support with my personal statement for university.
