Wyke's Official Statement for Universities

<< Back to all news

Wyke Sixth Form College students have experienced unprecedented disruption to their education during the lockdown and covid period.Wyke entered lockdown prior to the full Government lockdown on 20th March 2020. The entire curriculum was then moved to a remote platform. Due to the rapid nature of the lockdown and the digital infrastructure of the college at the time, the delivery of lessons was inconsistent. Since the college re-opening, Wyke students have so far only had 3 weeks of face-to-face teaching. This delivery method continues to be essential due to our local demographic and case numbers. We are continuing with a model of 50:50 teaching and whilst our ability to deliver digitally is now of a high standard, there is no substitute for face-to-face teaching and our students have undoubtedly been affected by this blended approach to their studies. Our university cohort this year have had to demonstrate significant independence and resilience towards their own learning and the application process.
