Do you want to give your academic writing that little bit of an edge?Do you think your assignments could flow better?Do you struggle to find reliable sources for your essays?Our new library mentor, Sandy Clark, is offering students the opportunity to brush up on their writing skills to give their academic work an extra edge.Sandy is in the process of completing his PhD at the University of Hull, so he has a pretty good idea of how to get your academic written work in order. He is setting up sessions that will allow students to gain practical advice and guidance to make sure their written work is the best it could possibly be.The sessions are open to all students, but those on the Flyers programme, the EPQ and Oxbridge applicants are particularly encouraged to make use of them.The sessions will offer support on a variety of academic writing topics, including:• putting together well-researched bibliographies;• finding good sources for essays;• grammar, syntax and concision;• essay structuring;• and general research and writing advice.These skills can make a huge difference between grade boundaries, and can really make applications stand out.If you need help with a specific assignment, or just want a bit of general advice on the above topics, please email office@wyke.ac.uk and they will be able to put you in touch with Sandy.
