<< Back to all news

This week, our first year Health and Social Care students are taking part in Wyke’s very own Health Week.Led by our Careers Team, the week is designed to inform and inspire our students along with preparing them for a career within Health, Education and Social Care.We kick-started the week with a day-long first aid course teaching the basics in emergency first aid which we believe are vital skills for students to have and will help support students applications to university, higher apprenticeships and employment.Throughout the week, students can engage in a wide range of live and pre-recorded talks with health and education professionals covering topics such as ‘a day in the life of’ and the different routes available into various careers. Students will hear from specialists in the following professions:

  • Midwifery
  • Paramedic Science
  • Substance Misuse
  • Nursing
  • Social Worker
  • Primary School Teacher
  • Teaching Assistant
  • Physiotherapy

Students will also get the opportunity to learn more about volunteering in the NHS across the Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital sites, giving them an opportunity to learn new skills and help others. We hope our students find this week beneficial and would like to thank all of the organisations and individuals who have given their time in supporting our students this week.
