It was great to see former Wyke student, Alice Harvey, playing for the England Netball Roses against a highly respected Jamaican side. The game, which was broadcast on the BBC, was a tough test for the England team, with Jamaica taking an early lead. Alice came on after the first quarter as a replacement goalkeeper, as it was clear that the Jamaican goal shooter was getting too much room. Alice made an immediate impact as the momentum swung to the Roses, eventually running out 73-52winners.
Alice, who used to play goal shooter for Wyke, tasted success for the first time in the form of the Europe Netball Championships at U17 level in 2017 and has since won the Europe Netball U21 Championships too. Alice won her first Vitality Roses senior cap at the October 2022 Vitality International Netball Series vs. Uganda.
Having studied A Levels in Economics, Mathematics and Politics, the former Yorkshire Jets starlet currently represents Loughborough Lightning and was part of the squad that won the British Fast5 All-Stars Championship in 2019 as well as the club’s first Netball Super League title in 2021.
