HR Advisor

Maternity cover, approximately 12 months
Full time, full year or term time only (negotiable with successful applicant)

SFCA Support Scale Point 33 – 38 (£25,811 – £29,961 pro rata) depending on knowledge and experience

We require an experienced HR Advisor to work independently to cover the full range of HR functions. Duties include recruitment, advising on terms and conditions of employment and employee relations, record keeping and providing management information and reports. The role involved working closely with the senior management team and line managers as well as being available to advise colleagues across the college.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level and have a CIPD-approved HR qualification or equivalent experience. They will have experience of working in an HR advisory role, experience in education or a similar public sector setting would be an advantage. The appointee will be confident advising colleagues at all levels. A working knowledge of employment law is essential, as is the ability to work independently to manage a varied workload.

Premises Assistant

SFCA Support Scale 15: currently £15,625 pro rata (approx £8.12 per hour)

We require a Premises Assistant to join our experienced team in providing a responsive support service to staff and students in the day-to-day running of the site and use of shared resources. The team work to maintain high standards of appearance, good condition and safe usage of the College’s premises, noting deficiencies and making improvements as appropriate. The working hours for the role involve covering shifts from 6.30a.m. until up to 10p.m. in the evening with some overtime being required for weekend functions and emergency call outs overnight.

The successful candidate will be a practical problem-solver who can work well with others to manage a varied workload. Experience of working in a similar role would be desirable and the flexibility to cover the working times required is essential.

Digital Media Technician

SFCA Support Scale Point 16 – 20 (£16,016 – £17,270 pro rata, actual salary £10,774 – £11,877)

We require a Digital Media Technician to support our Film and Media Studies departments as well as the marketing and liaison team. Key responsibilities will include maintaining and supporting people to operate digital media equipment, overseeing a robust equipment issuing system and using digital editing programmes.

The successful candidate will have strong technical skills and be highly organised with the ability to manage a varied workload. A relevant qualification and/or experience of working in a similar role would be desirable and knowledge and experience of digital editing programmes is essential.

Science Technician

SFCA Support Scale Point 16 (£16,016 pro rata)

We require a Science Technician to join our friendly science faculty and work with the Senior Science Technician to provide a responsive support service to teaching staff. Duties involved setting up labs for practical experiments, preparing chemicals, and maintaining a clean, organised preparation room. Technicians may also assist students carrying out the experiments and provide demonstrations for Open Evenings.

The successful candidate will be a practical problem-solver who is well-organised and can respond to changing requirements when needed. Experience of working in a similar role would be desirable and knowledge and experience of practical science is essential.

Minibus Driver

Casual (to cover trips, sports fixtures, absences etc)

SFCA Support Scale 15: currently £15,625 pro rata (approx £8.12 per hour)

Wyke is an oversubscribed, highly successful Sixth Form College with an outstanding reputation in the locality. We teach mainly 16-18 year old students from Hull, the East Riding and further afield.

The Minibus Drivers form a small team essential to the smooth running of the College transport system. Drivers collect students to ensure they arrive before 9a.m.and take them home at 4.10pm. Routes can involve a round trip of up to 2.5 hours at each end of the day. Destinations include Goole, Withernsea & the Scunthorpe area. Students are also regularly taken to various locations on trips and visits and to sports fixtures.

Candidates should hold a full driving licence with a D1 entitlement. Experience of driving minibuses and/or working with young people is desirable.

Catering Assistant

Wyke is an oversubscribed, highly successful Sixth Form College with an outstanding reputation in the locality. We teach mainly 16-18 year old students from Hull, the East Riding and further afield.

We seek an enthusiastic, reliable individual to join this friendly team in providing a high quality catering service to our students and staff. The role involves working in a very busy environment to serve large numbers of people breakfast, lunch and snacks. There is also the opportunity to sign up for occasional evening work for events held at the College during which refreshments are often served.

The successful candidate will remain calm under pressure and be flexible in helping other members of the team. Experience in catering and/or operating tills would be an advantage but is not essential.
