Wyke Sixth Form College students got stuck into Football, Tennis, Badminton, Rugby, Athletics and more at the AoC Regional Tournament this week.
Team Wyke traveled to The University of York on Wednesday 3 October where they joined Colleges from across Yorkshire and the Humber region for a day full of sporting fun and competition.
The Regional Tournament takes place each year and is open to students in AoC Member Colleges. It offers students the opportunity to meet like-minded people who share the same passion for sport, improve their skills and qualify for the National Championships.
Team Wyke were represented in 9 sports with some really tough competition and great wins:
Badminton – silver medal
Basketball – made it to the final and took away a silver medal
Squash – bronze medal
Rugby – knocked out in the semi finals
Men’s Football – knocked out in the semi-finals in the last kick of the game
Cross country – 10th position
Women’s Football – missed out by 1 point
Toni Knight, Head of PE and Sport at Wyke commented on the hard work and commitment of students: “The day proved a great success and every student represented their game with enthusiasm and a sporting spirit.
We were particularly proud to see all of our students coming together and working well as a team and it was fantastic to come away with some silver and bronze medals!”
