The College will be providing a total of thirty one bus and minibus services to a host of locations in Hull, the East Riding and North Lincolnshire. Maps and timetables of all services can be found at www.wyke.ac.uk. Students will need to make sure they know which number they are on and catch the same service on the way home. All College transport services are free during Wyke Start and students who cannot access one of the College bus routes and who use other forms of public transport to get here will be reimbursed at the end of Wyke Start. Please ensure that any tickets are retained in order to be reimbursed.
If there any access or mobility concerns about transport please contact us. Important information regarding how to purchase annual, termly or half-termly passes will be sent out at the beginning of August when we confirm enrolment interview appointments.
During Wyke Start we will be carrying out some of the administrative tasks that form part of the enrolment process. Students will have a digital photograph taken for their College ID. Details will be provided on the first day about this, and about where to have photographs taken.
Activities – students will have the opportunity to take part in lunch-time activities throughout Wyke Start. These activities will be promoted in a leaflet issued on the first day and will include a range of careers information events and activities within subject areas.
Overseas event – an information event is taking place on Tuesday 2nd July between 5.30pm and 7.00pm.
A reminder will be sent by text message (or e-mail if a mobile number is not available) shortly before Wyke Start to let students know which room to report to on the first day. Students need to arrive at the College each day for 9.00am and individual timetables will be issued. A pen and notebook should be brought, together with money for snacks, bus fares etc. A free lunchtime BBQ is provided on the Tuesday. Kit is also required if PE, Sport or Dance classes are being taken. Subject specific information is available for certain subjects in the booklet that was mailed out an is also available on the Wyke Start section of the website.
