Izzy Furness, former Beverley High School student joined EY’s Apprenticeship Programme in 2018 shortly after completing her study programme at Wyke.
Izzy developed a passion for Accounting during her two years on Wyke’s A Level Accounting course and soon decided that this was a career she would like to pursue.
Inspired by her Accounting teacher, Izzy kick-started her career at EY one of the big 4 Accountancy firms. From attending Discover EY in London to the EY Business Academy in Edinburgh, Izzy decided to join the Assurance Apprenticeship Programme in Hull and enjoys every moment of it.
“I heard about EY through my College teacher who discussed the Discover EY programme. After being successful through the process, I attended an event in London which gave me a taster of EY. I then applied to the EY Business Academy which is one-week paid work experience and I chose to do this in Edinburgh! On completion, I thought about my options and what route to take and after being successful at final interview with a partner in the Hull office, I began my career there.
My role entails working in teams with a range of different levelled staff to, in short, check/inspect all the financial information of our clients. This means most of our time is spent on a client site.
I’m most looking forward to progressing within EY. Experiencing the new opportunities that different levels and roles will give me, along with passing all my exams and becoming a qualified Chartered Accountant!”
As part of Wyke’s Alumni Programme, Izzy has also returned to the College on numerous occasions, helping to support and inspire our current students.
