A level pass rate 99.7%
BTEC pass rate 100%
100% pass rate in 59 subjects
Top 15% of all Sixth Form providers nationally
Yet again, students at Wyke Sixth Form College have shown a combination of talent and hard work to achieve outstanding success. This, along with superb teaching and the best possible facilities, has meant that 99.7% of students have achieved a pass grade at A-level. This includes 315 of the top A* and A grades, 53% of the cohort achieving A*- B grades and a remarkable 82% achieving A*-C grades.
Our students are progressing to exceptional destinations with 10 students progressing to Oxbridge and over 20 taking up places on Medicine, Dentistry or Veterinary courses over the last three years.
Once again our BTEC results were outstanding with 80 students achieving 3 Distinction*, the equivalent to three A*s at A level, in comparison to 57 students in 2018. This represents 80% of our Extended Diploma students.
Overall the results are a further significant improvement and fully justify the College’s position in the top 15% of all Sixth Form providers nationally.
Principal, Paul Britton, said:
“These results really are excellent. It is so pleasing to know that our students have achieved the results they need to progress onto the exciting course or career they have planned. These results will help them through the rest of their lives and they should be proud of the impressive levels of effort, determination and ability that they have demonstrated.
The results also reflect the tremendous work of all of our staff. The care, support and guidance offered at Wyke continues to be outstanding. Staff at Wyke consistently show their expertise in bringing the best out of each and every student. Sixth Form students are our sole focus and the students at Wyke show what can be achieved when the right teaching, support and facilities are there for them.
As the largest A-level provider in the region, I am absolutely delighted with the remarkable number of students achieving the top grades and I know that our College will continue to provide the best possible education for the widest range of young people.
I’ve had such an enjoyable first year at the college. We are very pleased with these results, an excellent step towards achieving our ambition of being the best Sixth Form College in the country.”
Mr John Wilson, Chair of the Wyke Sixth Form College Corporation, added:
“Once again our students have achieved a fantastic set of results. I congratulate them for their hard work and wish them well for the future. Thanks must go to all the teaching and support staff for their hard work and dedication.”
