Former Beverley Longcroft student Beth Curry has recently been cast in Matthew Bourne’s Romeo and Juliet, a contemporary reimagining of Shakespeare’s classic story. Beth, who studied A level Dance at Wyke, is now in her second year of the BA(Hons) Dance programme at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance, Leeds.
As well as established professional dancers, Beth was cast as part of an initiative to promote emerging dance talent. She is one of six young cast members who will perform at the Bradford Alhambra Theatre alongside the New Adventures Company. This is a significant milestone for Beth as she was selected from over 1000 applicants.
Beth proudly posted on Facebook that she was “so happy to finally announce that I will be performing in Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures brand new production of Romeo and Juliet as part of their young cast! Very excited to be performing in Bradford on the 22-25 May 2019 with this amazing company.”
Bourne said: “New Adventures’ Romeo and Juliet will be a celebration of youthful energy, talent and creativity both on and offstage and, uniquely, in all aspects of choreography, design and music through the appointment of a series of young associate artists.
“As we enter our fourth decade as a company, I’m finding the development of young talent ever more important and fulfilling.”
