Huge congratulations once again to our women’s 1st Netball team who reclaimed the under 19’s County Championship title for the 5th year running.
At the event, the team faced South Hunsley School and Wolfreton School who were the East Riding heat winners and runners up. Wyke also faced Hymers College who placed 2nd in the Hull heats.
The team were captained to victory in all matches by Emily Hairsine beating South Hunsley School 8-7, Wolfreton School 10-3 and finally Hymers College 7-4.
Following their 5th win of the title, Debbie Brettell, the coach of the Netball 1st team said: “The girls have done really well to reach the regional finals as well as being crowned both the Hull and County Champions. The team have only been together since September but are already showing signs of being one of the best netball teams Wyke has ever had. I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
Following the match, both Wyke and Hymers College will be heading to the regional finals on 30th January to see if they can qualify for nationals and today 7 members of Wyke’s winning team have gone to the final stage of the British College’s England trials in Nottingham.
Well done to all involved and the College would like to wish the girls the best of luck at the British College trials and regional finals.
