Wyke is an established, highly successful Sixth Form College with an outstanding reputation in the locality. The college draws students from Kingston-upon-Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, and further afield. We require a knowledgeable and skilled leader to join our College Leadership Team, leading their own faculty and contributing to the wider leadership and development of the College. One of a team of six Heads of Faculty/Curriculum Directors, the successful candidate will oversee Psychology and Sociology, Geography, History and Government and Politics, Law, Criminology and Applied Law, Philosophy, Ethics and Religious Studies.. These are a mixture of A-level and Level 3 vocational courses and all have Heads of Subject who directly line manage the teaching teams. They will also work with the Pastoral Directors and Heads of support services to ensure the optimum experience for Wyke students.
The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher themselves and have experience of leading others to achieve the best possible outcomes and provide a high-quality experience for students. They will be keen to promote our culture of high standards and commitment to development, ensuring the teams understand the factors that lead to high levels of student achievement and supporting them to implement relevant strategies. A teaching qualification and degree relevant to the subject(s) taught are essential and some formal leadership training is desirable but can be provided for the appointee. The most important skills to ensure success in the role will include the ability to coach others, strong time management skills and sound judgement.
