This an exclusive webpage that we have designed to help guide and support students from Sirius North Academy in applying to Wyke Sixth Form College.
We’ve gathered together a number of video resources to further your understanding about Wyke, to communicate what makes it such a special place to study. Our “Review of 2019-20” introduces you to the range of subjects, student success and fantastic enrichment opportunities. Further down the page there’s a guide on how to apply to help you secure your place.
For students targeting 6s and above in their GCSEs, we have an insight to our Oxbridge and Pre-Medical Programmes. This is followed by some case studies of former Sirius North students, why they chose Wyke, the subjects they studied and their plans for the future.
We are looking to invite students and applicants to the College campus in 2021, but in the meantime will be hosting a number of live online and virtual events to give you a further opportunity to explore the opportunities at Wyke.

NEW for 2021 T-Levels
Wyke has been selected by the government to provide the new T Level qualification from September 2021, a decision that reflects the national status of our college. T Levels signal a major step forward in the Government’s 10-year ambition to overhaul technical education. These are technical alternatives to A Levels, combining classroom theory, practical training and an industry placement.
At Wyke students a select number of students will be able to take a T Level in the following subject areas:
• Digital Production, Design and Development
These new 2-year courses, equivalent to 3 A levels, have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work.
T Levels will offer students a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the job’ experience during an industry placement of at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days). They will provide the knowledge and experience needed to open the door into skilled employment, further study or a higher apprenticeship.
Case Studies of former Sirius North students
BTEC Business – Distinction*
BTEC Creative Media Production – Distinction*
BTEC Performing Arts – Distinction*
Destination: Leeds Beckett University, BA(Hons) Film Production
Former Sirius Academy North student, Omar Aramuch thrived during his time at Wyke. On Results Day, he found that he had secured his place at Leeds Beckett University to study Film Production, calling his three Distinction stars “perfect.”
Omar came to the UK from Syria, meaning that alongside his studies, he had additional barriers to overcome. But the strong relationships he built with friends, staff and teachers ensured that he would succeed.
He said: “Making friends with all these brand new people was the best experience I’ve ever had. There are so many teachers and members of staff who I’m really, really going to miss. It’s the best experience I’ve had during my three years here.”
A Level Chemistry – A*
A Level Biology – A
A Level Mathematics – A*
Destination: University of Hull, BSc(Hons) Chemical Engineering
For many of our students, Results Day 2020 was a day full of surprises. Many of our students exceeded their predicated grades and were amazed at how well they’d done.
Former Sirius Academy North student Katy Stefura was one of these students. She secured a place to study Chemical Engineering at the University of Hull and said: “I’m very happy with my results, I really didn’t expect to get an A* for Maths.”
Katy also had some advice for our new students: “Just focus and do the work that you’re supposed to do, especially the homework and you will be fine. If you’re doing what is expected of you.”
Virtual Open Events
As you will understand, we are unable to host open events at the campus. Instead, we are launching an exciting virtual open event programme to allow you to explore the campus, meet our Principal and interact with subject teachers and current students. These events will be accessible through your PC, tablet or mobile.
