We’ve gathered together a number of video resources to further your understanding about Wyke, to communicate what makes it such a special place to study. Our “Review of 2019-20” introduces you to the range of subjects, student success and fantastic enrichment opportunities. Further down the page there’s a guide on how to apply to help you secure your place.
For students targeting 6s and above in their GCSEs, we have an insight to our Oxbridge and Pre-Medical Programmes. This is followed by some case studies of former Kingswood students, why they chose Wyke, the subjects they studied and their plans for the future.
We are looking to invite students and applicants to the College campus in 2021, but in the meantime will be hosting a number of live online and virtual events to give you a further opportunity to explore the opportunities at Wyke.

NEW for 2021 T-Levels
Wyke has been selected by the government to provide the new T Level qualification from September 2021, a decision that reflects the national status of our college. T Levels signal a major step forward in the Government’s 10-year ambition to overhaul technical education. These are technical alternatives to A Levels, combining classroom theory, practical training and an industry placement.
At Wyke students a select number of students will be able to take a T Level in the following subject areas:
• Digital Production, Design and Development
These new 2-year courses, equivalent to 3 A levels, have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares students for work.
T Levels will offer students a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the job’ experience during an industry placement of at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days). They will provide the knowledge and experience needed to open the door into skilled employment, further study or a higher apprenticeship.

Former Kingswood Academy student, Elisha explained how her passion for politics went beyond the classroom: “since Year 11 I have been heavily involved in politics locally. I’m a member of the Labour party and the chair of East Yorkshire Young Labour in the local area.”
Whilst at Wyke, Elisha was offered an opportunity to work alongside the former Shadow Home Secretary Andy Burnham in the Houses of Parliament; “I attended a hustings event during the leadership elections where I asked Andy a question. At the end of the event I approached him and he said that I should do some work experience with him. I got to work alongside Andy and heard him speak against Theresa May in the House of Commons and I also got to meet the leader of the Labour Party. It was an amazing experience which really helped me in my university interview.”
Reflecting on her time at the College, Elisha said her time at Wyke was “an amazing experience where I got to be taught by outstanding teachers that inspired me every day. Visiting Washington DC with Government & Politics was incredible and confirmed my career ambition of becoming a Politician.”

Sarah previously studied at Kingswood Academy before coming to Wyke. Whilst at college, Sarah studied Drama and Theatre, English Language, English Literature and History. Throughout her two years at Wyke, Sarah was involved in a multitude of enrichment activities. “Last year I took part in the Poetry by Heart competition winning the regional heat. I have also taken part in the Shakespeare Schools Festival where I performed Julius Caesar at the Grimsby Auditorium. These experiences have not only cemented my decision to pursue a career involving English and Drama but have allowed me to make new friends, gain confidence and have really added to my experience of being a student at the college.” Sarah achieved exceptional A Level results and when asked for any top tips on success, Sarah said that she relied on a good work life balance: “I have worked hard to ensure that I have fully applied myself into my studies but I always made sure that I had the time to make the most of my time at Wyke too.”
After completing her studies Sarah would love to work with the Royal Shakespeare Company or within the theatre.
