Two former Wyke students, Hester Arden and Rob Aramayo, are currently starring in leading theatre and television productions.
Hester Arden left Wyke in 2005 having completed A levels in Film Studies, English Language & Literature and Drama & Theatre. The former Cottingham High student is currently playing the role of Kay in the theatre production of “The Gaul”. The play centres on the mysterious disappearance of the Hull ship and the families left behind.
No trawler tragedy has caused as much controversy as the loss of the Gaul in 1974. This new play by Hull-born writer Janet Plater explores the journeys of the wives and relatives, through the discovery of the wreck by a TV documentary crew in 1997 and the government inquiry in 2004 to the present day.
The production is running at the Hull Truck Theatre until Saturday, 29th October with tickets available online or through the theatre book office.
Rob Aramayo completed his studies at Wyke in 2011 after gaining a place at the internationally renowned Julliard Stage School in New York, USA. Rob studied Government & Politics alongside Drama and Performing Arts whilst at Wyke.
Earlier this year the former Malet Lambert student appeared in season six of “Game of Thrones” and now he can be seen playing the central character of Bill Harley in the Discovery Channel production “Harley and the Davidsons”, the story behind the birth of the iconic American motorcycle brand.
The three part drama is now available to view on catch up on Sky and Now TV. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hge2aLJj29o
