Thanks to Prison Me No-Way who have visited Wyke over the past 2 days to talk to our first year Criminology and Applied Law students.
The talks given by the organisation were based upon the themes of choices and consequences and where they can take you, with first-hand accounts given by former and serving offenders.
Lauren Whittaker, Head of Criminology and Applied Law said, “The talks today and yesterday have provided our students context about the sentences and tariffs given to those who commit crime. They also have put the theories taught on both courses into practice. Some of the second years asked if they could come to talks again this year, and commented on how memorable the talks were and how they had a big impact.”
Neil McCunnell, representative from Prison Me No-Way, thanked our students for their engagement during the talks. “The students we have met have asked us some challenging but really good questions which I believe will help solidify their understanding of the criminal justice system.”
