The Corporation is the governing body of Wyke Sixth Form College. It oversees the way that the College is run and aims to ensure that the College delivers what its community needs and makes effective use of the resources it has available. It represents the interest of the local community in particular and the public interest in general.
Corporation members are unpaid volunteers. The Corporation seeks, through its membership, to be accountable to all its stakeholders: students, parents, staff and the local community. Student and staff members are elected to Corporation by students and staff, respectively, and other Corporation members are appointed by Corporation on the advice of its Search and Governance Committee. Under its governing documents, the Corporation is responsible, in particular, for obtaining the views of staff and students on the educational character and mission of the College and the oversight of its activities. Including staff and students on the Corporation is one of the ways in which the Corporation does this.
