Aspiring Lawyer commended by the University of Cambridge

By | Awards, Course News, News

Congratulations to Will De Vries for receiving a ‘highly commended’ mark on his essay written for the Robert Walker Prize.

The Robert Walker Prize for essays in Law was launched in 2013 and is named after a retired Justice of the Supreme Court who studied Law at Trinity College, the University of Cambridge. The prize is open to Year 12 and 13 students and aims to encourage them to explore and produce an argument about a legal topic, encourage those interested in Law to pursue it at university and to recognise talented individuals from all backgrounds.

This year, the 2000 word essay asked students to discuss the issue of offensive remarks on social media. His work was marked within the top ten essays and received some fantastic comments from the judges: “[Will’s work] clearly addressed the question, brought a range of perspectives and substantiated its assertions.”

As a result of being placed in the top ten, Will has been invited to attend an event at Trinity College to visit the campus and the Law Fellows on the 29th June. Well done once again Will, we hope that you have a fantastic time.
