Engineering goes green

By | Course News, News

On Tuesday, five engineering enrichment students took part in the Greenpower competition at the University of Hull.

The Greenpower competition was designed to help raise awareness of alternative power resources as well as careers in engineering. As part of the competition, the students had to design an environmentally friendly vehicle and present their ideas to a panel of judges.

At the end of the competition, the team from Wyke were highly commended by the judges for their presentation skills and engineering ability.
The College is exceptionally proud of the team, who are looking forward to taking part in the competition next year.

Wyke Top A-level League Table

By | Course News, News

We are delighted about the levels of achievement at our College and our students continue to perform at the highest levels. I am delighted that Wyke Sixth Form College continues to be the “first choice” for so many students in the region.

We are really pleased that once again, Wyke Sixth Form College is the largest and the highest performing A-level provider in Hull, East Riding and the region (state-funded).

Our average points score per student of 905.2 places us as the fourth highest achieving college, nationally. Our pass rates of 99.9% (A2) and 93% (AS) and the Distinctions on the BTEC courses are a testament to the tremendous work done at the College. I am very confident that our results will be even better this year.

Last year, five of our Oxbridge students and all of our medics were successful in gaining entry to their chosen University. This year, 13 students have applied to Oxbridge and currently, four of our Oxbridge applicants have received offers. We anticipate that over 20 students will apply to Oxbridge from our first year, our largest cohort of Oxbridge applicants. Wyke Sixth Form College continues to be a place where all students succeed. We are extremely proud of all of our students.

I am honoured to be able to lead our College. I would like to commend all staff, students, parents and our Corporation for their dedication, commitment and success.
