Entry Requirements
T Level Health requires you to achieve a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (one in an English and maths), this can include 2 Merits (or above) at BTEC/CTEC, plus a minimum of 5:4 in Science. This is outlined in our pathway criteria.

T Level Health requires you to achieve the minimum entry requirements for your chosen pathway. The minimum entry requirements will be discussed at open events and at your college interview.

T Level in Health

The T Level in Health (Supporting the Adult Nursing Team) is equivalent to 3 A Levels and is a suitable course option if you are passionate about a career in the health sector, with a particular focus on supporting the adult nursing team. The T Level will combine classroom work with work experience placements across the 2-year course, developing core knowledge and relevant career specific skills. This ensures that you have the knowledge and skills needed to progress onto health-related university courses, apprenticeships or employment.

Course Structure

The T-Level in Health is led by the Health & Social Care department with support from Science specialists. We have four dedicated teaching rooms in the Elm building and a specialist clinical room. You will have access to textbooks and a wide range of resources for the duration of the course which you are expected to use productively along with directed independent learning and internet research to complete your assessments.  

Whether it is going straight into employment, degree apprenticeship or moving onto university, the wide range of knowledge you will gain and the variety of placement opportunities on the T-Level in Health will ensure you have the background knowledge you need to work professionally with a diverse range of service users and be well informed to make the best choices for your next steps

The programme of study features a combination of classroom learning and an industry placement:

YEAR 1

  • Four days in college, one independent study day.
  • One-week induction with partner employer, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.
  • Three block placements to be completed throughout the year.

YEAR 2

  • Four days in college, one independent study day.
  • Three block placements to be completed throughout the year.

YOU WILL BE ASSESSED IN A NUMBER OF WAYS, THESE INCLUDE:

Year 1:

  • 2 set examinations (Healthcare Core & Science Core)
  • An Employer Set Project (ESP)

Year 2:

  • Case Study Assessment
  • 2 Practical Assessments separated into specialisms
  • X3 Supporting the Healthcare Team Practicals
  • X4 Supporting the Adult Nursing Team Practicals
  • 1 Professional Discussion/Assessment

preparation for the course

It is a good idea to ensure that you achieve a good foundation of GCSE results to prepare for this course. Therefore, you should aim to get at least a grade 4 in Maths/English and a 5:4 in Science.

It may also be beneficial to volunteer as a Young Health Champion within the NHS, this experience will develop a variety of transferable skills such as communication, organisation, and confidence.

What are the
Next Steps?

Once completing the T Level in Health, students will be able to progress onto a number of careers in the health sector which may include: Higher education or further study in a health career such as nursing and paramedic science Apprenticeships in the health sector and employment in the health sector such as ambulance support worker, healthcare support worker and senior healthcare support workers.

You will also have the opportunity to join our Pre-Health Programme and take part in a variety of enrichment opportunities such as a Level 3 First Aid Course, Level 2 Moving & Handling training with the NHS and visits to various universities.
